Gas Cap check engine light

Why does the the gas cap prompt the lighting of the check engine?

"Check Engine" Light

Newer cars have an inscrutable "check engine" dashboard light that may illuminate for no clear reason. One of the obscure causes for this light coming on could be that your gas cap has ceased to perform its duties. Inspect your gas cap for any visible problems.
Check your gas cap

The pressure inside your gas tank is thrown off-kilter when the gas cap is off or not secured properly. To your car's on-board diagnostic system, or OBD system, a change in pressure could indicate a leak in the emissions system, so the light is triggered to alert you to the problem.
How to replace a gas cap ?

Step 1 - Determine Your Type of Gas Cap
Before acquiring a new one, think about whether you need a gas cap that locks to prevent a gas thief from stealing your gas. But keep in mind, if you put one of
these caps on your car, your spouse or children who put gas in your car will need the gas cap key.

Step 2 - Remove the Cap Retention Ring
When you actually replace your gas cap, you may need to remove a retention ring that keeps the cap attached to your car. If you do, you can remove it simply by using a pair of needle-nose pliers. Just slip one tip of those pliers under the ring edge; then close the pliers and pull the ring off the old cap and slip it over the new cap.

Step 3 - Check the Warning Sensor Light
Your car may have a sensor light that will illuminate when you change your cap. If so, drive your car a few miles to see if the light goes off. If it doesn't, see your repair mechanic to fix the problem.

Try CARBON CLEANING !

Before going to the mechanic, decarbonize your engine !

Preventive engine cleaning enables you to restore engine parts rather than replacing them, thereby saving vehicle owners on costly parts, such as a new turbocharger ($ 1.350 - 3.100), catalytic converter ($ 600 - 2.000), DPF ($ 600 - 2.000) or EGR valve ($ 370 - 500).

These problems result mainly from poor combustion, which stifles the engine.

So before replacing your engine parts, try Carbon Cleaning. A dirty engine as the result of carbon deposits is the new threat to vehicle performance.
